42 ZP Members are elected from geographically demarcated constituencies from within the Rural Areas of the district. Member of Parliament of the district (One), State Legislative Assembly (8) & the State Legislative Council (2) Adhyaksha of the 5 Taluk Panchayats in the district.

ZP President is elected from the directly elected members of the Zilla Panchayat. The Adhyaksha is the executive head of the Zilla Panchayat and chairs all the meetings of the Zilla Panchayat.

ZP Vice President is elected from the directly elected members of the Zilla Panchayat. The Upadhyaksha is deputy to the Adhyaksha.
To facilitate greater discussion in the functioning of Zilla Panchayat , 5 standing committees have been formed. Each Standing Committee consists of Zilla Panchayat members not exceeding seven in number including the Chairman, who are elected by the Zilla Panchayat from among the elected members.
The members of the Committees are elected from the directly elected members of the zilla panchayat. The term of the Adhyaksha, the Upadhyaksha, and all the 5 standing committee is 60 months. The term of elected members is 5 years.
For smooth functioning and administration of the Zilla Panchayat Office, an officer designated as "Chief Executive Officer" is appointed by the state government to carry out Administration.Nearly 27 different departments come under ZP like Education, Health, Forest, Public Health Engineering, Irrigation, Fisheries, Agriculture etc. CEO is assisted in the discharge of his duties by Senior Officers in the Zilla Panchayat like -
Zilla Panchayat Office is situated on Managuli Road, Near Kanakadas Badawane which is just three 3 kms away from the Main KSRTC Bus Stand. This building was built by the KLAC in 1998. The office is easily accessible from Railway Station, DC office and is very near to other offices like AC Office, Tahasildar Office, KSFC, Minor Irrigation, KEB, District Court, Grameen Bank HO, BDA etc. Differenct sections of Zilla Panchayat.
